Blackpool Footbal Club Youth Department
The Blackpool Football Club Youth Department have had several players progress to the professional ranks including current players, Ash Eastham, Mark Halstead and Louis Almond with this years Youth Team having several players feature for the 1st team. Adam Dodd, Kingsley Reynolds, Liam Tomsett and Tom Barkhuizen have all played in the 1st team this season! From the young age of 14 his career has taken him from the FA National School with Carragher and McCann, 24 England Youth Caps, signing for then Premiership Club Norwich City and League One Bristol Rovers to retiring at the young age of 22 to nurturing the likes of England Youth Goalkeeper Jack Butland and Wales Youth David Goldsmith from his own independent Bristol based Soccer School. Jamie Shore took up his position as Head of Youth in the January of 2011 and has an extensive background in coaching stretching over 15 years at the age of just 33.
Excellence at Blackpool Football Club Academy Trials
Speaking about his switch to Blackpool, Jamie said: "When I was offered to work at such a massive football institution as Blackpool FC by Ian Holloway, who I already knew from my playing days with Bristol Rovers FC, I felt so excited and honored.” "We have a great challenge but also a great opportunity with the Youth Department and I am delighted to be appointed Head of the project. I can't wait to get going." “With the new training ground on the horizon, it’s a big challenge for me to instill our strategy and structures in time for when we relocate and one I am going to enjoy. To be given this opportunity and the chance to work with such a great team of people is brilliant." The Club has a 4 year plan and we will develop a special place; one where dreams are fired, hopes are heightened and aspirations are raised. It is also the first rung on the ladder that Young local talent could have a playing career with Blackpool Football Club."Are they good enough to become Premiership Players at our football club? Do they have the right character and personality and the ability we are looking for? Here Jamie describes the philosophy behind the club's desire to produce stars of the future:
Blackpool Football Club Academy Trial History
Since achieving Premiership status, the Youth aspect is an integral part of the club and this means everyone who works, trains and plays here is expected to perform to the highest possible standards. Our ongoing challenge is to provide the ideal environment for talent to flourish and it is one which we endeavor to meet on a daily basis. We are only too well aware that in order to produce the best players you need to have the best staff and at the Blackpool FC we have one simple aim - to produce footballers of the future by nurturing the natural talent of youngsters from Blackpool and beyond. Where there is ability we want to get the best out of it; where there is talent we want to harness it and where there is desire we want to reward it with opportunity. Our determination to give young players of genuine potential the chance to make it in one of the toughest and most competitive sports is such that we aim to challenge every single young player who walks through our doors with the best technical syllabus, elite tours, facilities and the best possible guidance."It's a big job and a challenging job but I consider it a privilege to be working for this club and when you see the young lads we have here working hard and improving every day then it really puts a spring in your step and gives you the extra motivation to go and see what other young lads are out there."
