NEW CHESHAM UNITED FOOTBALL ACADEMY - TRIALS COMMENCE

New Chesham United Football Academy - Trials commence

We are delighted to announce that the new Chesham United

Football Academy will be opening for this

    academic year.

    With recruitment underway from

ll be offering 16-19 year olds a

complete Sporting and Football Education based at

The Meadow, home of Chesham United Football Club.

Chesham United has a great tradition of developing

youth players right from the origins of football in the town.

Over the years many players have gone on to have

successful careers - back in the 1970s a young Kerry

Dixon graced The Meadow whilst more recently players

like Fitz Hall, Wayne Andrews, Ernie Cooksey and

DJ Campbell moved onto the professional game.

Our 2002 youth team captain, John Mousinho, played

for England Schools before going on to Brentford, Wycombe,

Stevenage and currently Burton Albion. In 2012 Chesham

United provided two members of the England Schools'

squad when Tom Fouhy and Ben Mooney were selected,

whilst in 2013 we were delighted to see another of our U18s,

goalkeeper Tom Gowans, make the national schools' side.

Now we are taking another important step with the launch

of the Chesham United Academy which will allow talented

youngsters to maximise their sporting potential whilst securing

a quality education based here at The Meadow.

Chesham United 1st Team manager Andy Leese is enthusiastic

about the latest stage of of the Club's commitment to developing

youth players at Chesham United: "We have made real

progress over the last few seasons with the development

of our set up for young players in the Club. The objective

is to continue to attract local talented players, and providing

a pathway to the 1st team for our own youth section players.

"The senior management all share the philosophy of finding

and developing young players and teaching them the game at

    senior level.

"The steps through the levels for a young player are demanding

as the game becomes quicker and more physical, and they have

to develop a mental strength to compete that often belies their years.

"Our aim is to produce talented young players for Chesham

United. Some leave us to go to University, many come back to us.

We have produced three England Schoolboy players in the last 3

seasons, a record of which we are proud. We aim to continue

    the progress year on year."
