PARTICIPATION IN THE FOOTBALL CAREERS SCHOLARSHIP & EDUCATION PROGRAMME HAS THE FOLLOWING BENEFITS:

    • Provides individuals age 16-19 with the best opportunity to develop a career in football and the sports industry while continuing their full-time education
    • Offers the expertise of experienced and highly qualified academic and UEFA A & B qualified coaching staff. Also being based at a football club offers the learners the opportunity to interact on a daily basis with all staff involved in the day to day running of a football club, such as the Chairman, Directors, Secretary, Coaches, Physio, etc.
    • Provides learners with up to 12 hours per week of professional training and matches for those following the playing/training pathway
    • Enables individuals to compete against other teams from around the country for those following the playing/training pathway
    • Provides excellent facilities
    • Offers opportunities to progress into Professional/Semi-Professional Football, Higher Education, USA Scholarships and Employment.

The programme is fully funded and is therefore free of charge to all learners.

Andrew Tower, Head of Community at Vauxhall Motors FC, is managing the programme and adds "This programme is a fantastic and exciting development for the football club and for young people in the region.

"The club needs to develop its own players and this programme compliments the current youth set up and open up the pathway for promising young players to progress into a semi-professional football club.

"We consider the playing pathway to be second only to a professional football club scholarship because the learners will not only gain the same academic qualifications but also receive up to 12 hours a week of training and games, which will help them improve technically, tactically, physically, and socially, and support their football development.

"Even if the playing side of things isn't for you, there are still opportunities to learn about other elements within a football club environment such as coaching, analysis, physiotherapy, and so on, whilst gaining academic qualifications.

"We can’t wait to get started and I would encourage all boys and girls aged 16-19 years as well as their parents, who enjoy the playing and non-playing aspects of football to get in touch with me and to register their interest straight away."

There is an open day/trial now confirmed starting on Saturday 19th April 2014
