Write about your football history : James Started playing football age 9 and soon developed a passion for goalkeeping. He was identified early by coaches as someone with a natural talent for the position. Though a combination of passion, very hard work and some excellent coaching he rose through the ranks of Sunday league at his own pace to play at the highest level and impressed everyone with his abilities and intelligence for the game, including his academy coaches and county manager. He is now an U14’s goalkeeper at the Millwall Academy winning the Premier League academy national CAT 2 title in 2014. He is also the goalkeeper for the Kent County team and has played at district level in his own age group and the year above.
Write about your Playing Ability : James has fantastic handling ability and great agility. He has worked very hard to develop his core strength and has amazing stamina. He is very brave going into challenges and quick off his line. He has worked hard at developing speed and is now in the top 10% of fastest players amongst the outfielders. One of his greatest attributes is his footwork and distribution both from the ground and his hands with 95% of kicks as completed short or long range passes rather than aimless kicks up the pitch. He is very confident with the ball at his feet and is used to playing high up the pitch as a sweeper. He is often complemented on his load, clear and precise communication providing valuable information. James plays with passion and commitment and believes he can influence games not only by shot stopping but setting up goals from his quick and accurate distribution.
Why should an Academy Director give you a trial : You will struggle to find a more committed or passionate goalkeeper with his work rate both in training and matches. Even if you don’t sign him your coaches will enjoy working with him during the trial. As a player he is best compared to Hugo Lloris and given the correct coaching and development environment could easily reach that standard.
